How does face yoga work?

Think about anytime you've had a good work out or yoga practice. You look in the mirror, you've broken a sweat, you're breathing deeply, and your face is glowing from the blood pumping through your body. You feel great taking time to take care of yourself. You can see and feel the difference... So why not take care of your face with the same concept as your body?

There are 43 muscles in the face. Most of the time we're using them without even realizing. However our facial expressions do leave imprints.

Forehead lines, 11 lines ( between the eyebrows ), and crows feet, are all the result of repetitive â€‹facial movement.

Another aspect of aging is gravity. Jowls, neck, chest, cheeks, nasolabial folds (marionette lines) and sagging eyelids are where we really see the affects of nature.

Face Yoga combines resistance and relaxation exercises, deep breathing and acupressure to:

- release tension in the muscles that are overly worked

- tone the muscles that are underworked

- stimulate lymphatic drainage

- oxygenate the skin

As we relax our overly used muscles, our unwanted wrinkles and fine lines begin to diminish.

By isolating and toning our weaker facial muscles, the skin around the muscle begins to tighten and lift.

Acupressure assists in stimulating lymphatic drainage and releasing tension in the face; reversing the appearance of a slightly stern or swollen face.

Deep breathing is one of the key fundamentals while exercising; increasing oxygen to the muscles and skin, giving you a soft glowing complexion.

Face yoga has been proven time and time again to get you looking and feeling great. Taking ten years off your face has never been been so safe, practical, or fun!

How long does it take to see results?

Unlike plastic surgery, fillers or botox, Face Yoga is not an over night fix. Just like any exercise regimen it takes commitment and consistency to see results.

If you practice consistently and make face yoga a part of your daily routine, you will start to see changes within 4- 6 weeks.

Just like working out your body, the more you take care of it, the more you see results!

FAQs

How often do I need to practice?

To reap optimal results practicing daily for 5- 10 minutes is best!

Do I need any tools to practice?

Aside from a mirror to initially learn the poses, you will not need any tools!

Can Face Yoga help with asymmetry caused by an accident or health condition?

Depending on the severity, face yoga can help correct asymmetry. However this is case by case. Our focus is to retrain the muscles. If the person is able to use their muscles, there is a large possibility practicing face yoga could help. In one case ( which you can see in the Before and Afters ), face yoga has helped to reverse temporary facial paralysis caused by Bell's palsy.

Can I practice if I've had botox, fillers, or plastic surgery?

You absolutely can practice face yoga no matter your previous cosmetic procedures. However practicing soon after cosmetic surgery is a definite NO as the healing process takes up to a year. Botox and fillers are not affected  by practicing face yoga, however it may be more challenging for you to use your facial muscles.

Is there a specific age group that Face Yoga can't work for?

When practiced properly and consistently all age groups will see results.

Can I get injure myself by practicing face yoga?

If practiced properly you will feel some sensation- as you are rebuilding muscles. You should never feel extreme or intense pain. If that is happening you should stop. You may be not be doing the pose correctly or pushing yourself too hard, creating more harm then good. The facial muscles are delicate and we are using them in ways we haven't before. It is important to take the same safety measures with your face as you would your body. If you're feeling pain, STOP.
